Camp Wide Events
Beyond our regular programming, it is our special events that create many lasting memories as we break away from our regular routine. Some of the favourite Manitou traditions have become:
Theatre Nights and Talent Shows
An evening of theatre is always a fun outing, especially with the talented musicians, dancers and actors we have at Manitou. From the musical productions of our Theatre campers, to the energetic dance shows, to talent shows where anyone at all can strut their stuff on stage, there’s something for everyone on Manitou’s stage.
Carnival
One afternoon each session, Main Field at Manitou is transformed into a carnival atmosphere marked with inflatable games and or magicians, petting zoos, life music from campers and staff , carnival prizes and of course, popcorn, snow cones and cotton candy! Have your face painted or get your fortune told.
Halloween
Is once a year enough for a holiday that’s as much fun as Halloween? We don’t think so. So we have a second Halloween in August at Manitou. Pack your costumes! There will be trick-or-treating at the staff cabins, a spooky haunted house to explore and a costumed dance to finish off the evening.
Midnight Madness
Imagine a late night sneak-out to a secret location. Suddenly the lights go on and a whole cast of colourful characters appear. Each year the camp awaits this special “break” of a theatre stage show and theme that then turns into a late night extravaganza. And you’re invited! Music fills the air, snacks are served and all of camp plays some favourite party games.
Theme Days
You never know when Mickey Mouse, Santa or other characters might show up, when main field might get turned into a tennis court or when the next episode of “Chris’ Playhouse” will be ready to air. There always seems to be something creative and fun going on in some corner of camp!
