Air Travel

2023 TRAVEL INFORMATION

At Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, we welcome Manitou campers each summer from around the worldOur friendly staff who are experts in making your child feel at ease, will be at the airport to greet your child on arrival day. For those of you who have family or friends in Toronto, we strongly recommend you to have your child arrive in Toronto a day or two in advance of the camp arrival day and take the Toronto bus up to camp.  We know it is a big commitment to send your child to us by airplane and we are always trying to make this part of the journey as easy as possible for both parents and campers.  We are proud of our excellent record in that all of our campers have arrived and departed in a safe and efficient manner.

PROTOCOLS UPON ARRIVAL TO CANADA

Please continue to check the Canadian Government site for travel updates https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid and if flying into the Toronto Airport check Pearson’s site for up-to-date protocols: https://www.torontopearson.com/en/ready-to-travel/what-to-expect

ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE TIMES

Please book flights so your child arrives at Pearson International Airport in Toronto between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM on arrival day and departing Pearson International Airport AFTER 1:00 PM and before 5:00 PM if possible. Manitou staff will be on hand to greet ALL flights and assist kids with their bags to the camp bus. While most campers won’t have much of a wait, sometimes a wait is possible as a result of flight delays. Rest assured that the kids are always supervised and will be fed and sent on their way as soon as possible. Our staff will be waiting for your child just outside the baggage area with a sign and wearing a Manitou t-shirt.

UNACCOMPANIED MINORS

While most airlines now require all children under 16 to travel as unaccompanied minors, not all do. You must check with the airline you are booked with to fully understand their policy and fees. We strongly suggest that you use this service as well for all direct flights. We will check-in your child as an Unaccompanied Minor unless otherwise stated in the travel report form.  If this service has not been paid for direct to the airline, we will pay for the service and charge the fee to you afterward.

Once you have made your child’s arrangements, please login to the Parent Portal to fill out your child(ren)’s Travel Form. (click view registration details to find form).  You can also email Jenny (jenny@manitoucamp.com) with your child’s flight confirmation.

Most importantly, any questions at all?  lease call Jenny at our office in Toronto at 416-322-5888 or e-mail us at jenny@manitoucamp.com. Jenny will be happy to answer any questions you may have. We are thrilled to welcome so many campers from all over the world.  It is one of the things that make Manitou so special.

Arriving by Car

We do not encourage parents to drop-off their kids as we feel part of the camp experience is taking the bus to and from camp. We do realize that there are times when people may decide to drop-off and pick-up their child(ren). The timing of drop-offs and pick-ups can be challenging since campers are coming and going at all times.
