Cole Abugov
Counsellor
From Toronto, Ontario, Cole is a student at Greenwood College School. During the year, Cole is an intern at Eggplant, a music production and licensing company. He has volunteered with Out of the Cold and enjoys playing the drums and sports in his free time. A Manitou camper for 5 years, Cole completed our CIT program in 2011. This will be Cole's first summer on staff.
Mitchell Allen
Counsellor
From Toronto, Ontario, Mitchell is a student at the University of British Columbia studying Film Production. Mitchell is also a graduate of Claude Watson's Screen Arts Program and attended York University in 2010 for Film Production. Several of his films have been accepted into the Zoom Film Festival and where he won the title of “Best Editor.” He was also awarded the Pierre Berton Dramatic Fiction award. Mitchell has volunteered with organizations including Ve’ahavta and Out of the Cold, plays the piano and holds his Black Belt in Karate. A Manitou camper for 7 years, Mitchell completed our CIT program in 2008. This will be his fourth summer on staff and eleventh at Manitou.
Rebecca Alter

From Toronto, Ontario, Rebecca is a student at Northern Secondary School graduating spring 2012. During the year, Rebecca serves as the student council secretary and the editor of the school newspaper. She is also involved in charitable initiatives including work with the United Way and helped found a teen mental health initiative in partnership with Kids Help Phone. She is also an avid artist and guitar player. A Manitou camper for six years, Rebecca completed our CIT program in 2010. This will be her second summer on staff.
Alec Amato

From Toronto, Ontario, Alec is a graduate of the Claude Watson program at Earl Haig as a Drama Major. During the year, Alec worked as a trial actor at the University of Chicago Law School. He previously served as a sectional editor for his school’s yearbook and was Artistic Director for his school’s Me To We Charity Week and AIDS awareness club. He has experience teaching Drama to underprivileged children in the START program and was a finalist at the Sears Drama Festival with a group winning and award of merit for “Best Ensemble.” A Manitou camper for seven years, Alec completed our CIT program in 2008. This will be his fourth summer on staff and eleventh at Manitou.
Christopher Ambury
Canoe Tripper
From Kingston, Ontario, Christopher is a student at the University of Western Ontario in London studying Geography and English. He has past volunteer experience as a Counsellor with Nature Explorer’s Camp and as a leader with Wilderness Backpacking Experience. In high school he worked extensively with his student council, serving as Head Boy and being presented with the Principal’s Award for Student Leadership. He also holds his NLS and Wilderness First Aid certifications. This will be Christopher’s third summer at Manitou.
Gord Anderson
Maintenance Staff
Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, Gord now lives in Toronto, Ontario where he has been working and taking courses through Ryerson University. Gord is a graduate of Bemidji State University in Minnesota with a Science degree. He played Division II NCAA baseball while at school, and has had coaching experience including a position as Assistant Coach of the York University Men’s Varsity Team. In 2002, Gord was named World Games captain. This will be his eleventh summer at Manitou.
Susie Angles
Nurse
Originally from Sydney, Australia, Susie now lives in Melbourne where she works as a Registered Nurse in Paediatrics at the Royal Children's Hospital. She is a graduate of the University of Technology with a degree in Nursing and is working towards becoming a Clinical Nurse Consultant. This will be Susie's first summer at Manitou.
Mark Arbus
Rock Music Head
From Toronto, Ontario, Mark works as a teacher during the year at Churchill Public School.  He holds his B.Ed. from the University of Ottawa and M.Ed. from Chapman University.  An avid guitar player, Mark has written most of the songs and played lead guitar for bands such as "Mogul" and “Guitarbus” and has released his debut album Tomorrow Turns To Day.  He has many years of camp experience as a camper at Camp Winnebagoe in Huntsville as camper and staff at Camp White Pine in Haliburton and working in various leadership roles at Camp Tamakwa in Algonquin Park.  Mark returns for his fifth summer at Manitou and fourth as Head of Rock Music.

From Toronto, Ontario, Mara is a student at the Bishop Strachan School graduating spring 2012. Active in her community throughout the year, Mara is a recipient of the Gold Duke of Edingurgh Award and volunteers with the St. Felix Centre for children. She also plays competitive field hockey, is an avid skier and holds her Bronze Cross. A Manitou camper for eight years, Mara completed our CIT program in 2010. This will be her second summer on staff.

From Oak Ridges, Ontario, Kaitlyn is a student at Ryerson University in Toronto studying Public Health. During the year, Kaitlyn teaches swimming at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital to children with special needs. She holds her NLS, WSI, and AED certifications. This will be Kaitlyn’s second summer working at Manitou.

He also volunteers at Beth Emeth's day care program. A Manitou camper for 8 years, Joel completed our CIT program in 2011. This will be Joel's first summer on staff.

From Thornhill, Ontario, Abi is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal with a Degree in Management. Abi has previous experience as an Assistant Dance Instructor through Vibe studio. She also holds her NLS and Swimming Instructors certification. Abi was a Manitou camper for two years, completing our CIT program in 2006. She is returning after a year away for her fifth summer on staff.

From Toronto, Ontario, Rebecca is a student at Concordia University in Montreal studying Communications. Rebecca has experience working two summer’s on staff at Camp New Moon and as a grade 9 orientation “buddy.” While in highschool she was also a member of the girls Rugby team and served on the Fashion Show committee. This will be Rebecca’s second summer at Manitou and first as Junior Girls Unit Head.

During the year, Meg serves on her school’s student council and volunteered with organizations including Ve’ahavta, Jewish Teens for Youth, Out of the Cold and with the Beth Sholom Daycare. She is completing her NLS and WSI certifications. A Manitou camper for 10 years, Meg was awarded the Lokash Award in 2008 and completed our CIT program in 2010. From Holland, Michigan, Benji is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a degree in 2-D Art and Spanish. He has spent the past year working as a scenic painter for Harvard University's American Repertory Theatre. Benji has studied abroad and traveled through Argentina, Peru and Chile where he volunteered as a Conversation Group Leader at the Universidad Austral. Benji returns for his fourth summer at Manitou and second as Head of Creative Arts.

From Scone, Australia, Brad is a student at the University of New England studying Primary Education. Brad works as a residential duty staff at The Armidale School where he coaches basketball, soccer, waterpolo, touch football and canoeing. Brad spends his spare time waterskiing and wakeboarding. This will be Brad's first summer on staff.
Michael Bowden

From Pickering, Ontario, Michael is a student at University of Ontario Institute of Technology studying Criminology and Justice. During the year, Michael works at an after school program with the Boys and Girls Club of Durham. He has previously worked at as a counsellor at Camp Robin Hood and as an Outdoor Education Instructor Green Acres Day Camp. Most recently, Michael worked at Camp Riverwood as an Assistant Unit Head. This will be Michael's first summer at Manitou.

During the year she competes on her school’s Soccer and Cross Country Running teams, is the editor of her school newspaper and is a school community service prefect. Katelyn Brooks
Canoe Tripper
From Waterdown, Ontario, Katelyn is a graduate in the Concurrent Physical Education Outdoor Adventure Leadership program at Laurentian University in Sudbury. Katelyn has extensive canoe tripping experience in Temagami, Tobermory and Algonquin and holds her ORCA level C, Bronze Cross and Wilderness Experience, Wilderness First Responder and PADI diver certifications. This will be Katelyn’s third summer working at Manitou.
Melissa Bruce
Senior Girls Unit Head
From Toronto, Ontario, Melissa is a student at York University studying Sociology. She had spent much of the past few years travelling abroad to countries including Australia, Spain, France, Indonesia, India and Mexico. In the fall and winter of 2009, she spent several months teaching English in Spain. Melissa has past experience working as a counsellor at the Toronto Cricket Club Day Camp, as well as a leader for Brownies and Girl Guides. She has also completed the OCA’s Skills Weekend Kayaking stream and holds her Bronze Cross. She returns for her sixth summer at Manitou and first as Senior Girls Unit Head.
Leigh Bryant
Associate Director
Originally from Vancouver, BC, Leigh has spent the past year living and working in Toronto. Leigh was a national level synchronized swimmer and both swam and coached for McGill while completing her degree there. She holds her NLS and NCCP Level 1 Coaching Certification and last spring she completed the CUI Level 1 training for ropes and climbing. A theatre enthusiast for most of her life, she has experience in all aspects of theatre including costuming, writing, directing and acting. Leigh has worked with children and youth in a variety of settings including running after school programs and working as a private nanny. In 2006 she completed her support worker training and has over a decade of experience working with people with disabilities. In 2008 she was named a World Games Captain and since 2009 has been working during our spring and fall off-seasons, assisting with programming and general operations. This will be Leigh's sixth summer at camp and second as Associate Director, this year focusing on Waterfront Safety and Special Issues.
Declan Burke

From Dublin, Ireland, Declan is a graduate from the Institute of Technology Tallaght with a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Analysis. Declan has experience waterskiing and has taught waterskiing at Camp Walt Whitman in New Hampshire. This will be Declan's first summer at Manitou.

From Toronto, Ontario, Noah is a student at the University of Western Ontario. During the year, Noah serves as the Brotherhood Chair for his Fraternity. He was previously the captain of the BSC Hornets, a rep team winning the 2009 provincial championship and has played competitive baseball and basketball. A Manitou Camper for four years, Noah completed our CIT program in 2008. This will be his fourth summer on staff.
Warren Carmichael
Canoe Tripping Head
From Kingston, Ontario, Warren is a student at Brock University in St. Catharines completing his Masters of Education. He is previously a graduate of Queen’s University with a B.Ed in Outdoor & Experiential Education and of Laurentian University in Sudbury with a degree in Outdoor Adventure Leadership. During the year, Warren is an Occasional Teacher with the District School Board of Niagara. He has worked as a Residence Assistant and also runs his own rock band. He has several years experience taking leadership and training courses through the Gould Lake Outdoor Centre. He holds his ORCA certifications in Flatwater Instruction, Moving Water, Flatwater Kayak and Tripping level 2 as well as his NLS and Wilderness First Responder certifications. This will be Warren’s seventh summer at Manitou and fourth as Head of Canoe Tripping.

From Toronto, Ontario, Jacob has spent the last few summers working with children at day camps including a season as senior staff at Adventure Valley Day Camp supervising the specialty staff. He has been playing music for years and has experience teaching guitar to children of all ages. This will be Jacob's first summer at Manitou.
Byron Clarke

From St. Catharines, Ontario, Byron is a graduate of Brock University with a degree in Business. During his program, Byron spent one semester studying at the University of Dijon in France. Byron has played organized hockey, softball, soccer and golf as well as working as a score keeper for local and provincial teams. He returns for his fourth summer at Manitou and third as Head of Hockey.

He worked as an assistant at the Toronto Bike Show in 2009 and has volunteered as a reading buddy at Dundas Public School. A Manitou camper for eight years, Matt completed our CIT program in 2009. This will be his third summer on staff and tenth at Manitou.

Originally from Madrid, Spain, Keith grew up in Valencia, Spain and now lives in Rome, Italy, as a student at the John Cabot University studying History. Keith has worked at Camp Matoaka in Maine as a Landsports Instructor and Brookwood Camps in New York as a Golf Specialist. He has been playing golf since the age of 7 and was on both the swim team and soccer team in College. This will be Keith's first summer at Manitou.

From Toronto, Ontario, Ben is a student at the University of Western Ontario in London studying Political Science. During the year, Ben has served as his Fraternity’s pledge class president. Ben previously competed on school Hockey and Snowboard teams. He also has experience as an assistant ski instructor with Alpine Ski Club and holds his Bronze Cross. Ben was a Manitou camper for eight years, received the Lokash Award in 2005 and completed our CIT program in 2006. This will be his sixth summer on staff, 14th at Manitou and first as Sophomore Boys Unit Head.

During the year, Eric is a ski instructor with Snowhawks, is the captain of his school's varsity rugby team and competes in a debate group called DECA. From Parry Sound, Ontario, Glen has recently shut down his own business to come and work for Manitou on a full-time basis. Glen has years of experience working with building foundations, excavations, plumbing, electrical and landscaping work. He returns for his eighth year on staff at Manitou.

From Auckland, New Zealand, Ben is a student at the University of Otago. Ben has experience working as a head camp counsellor at the Kristin School camp and as a rugby coach for local schools. He has played competitive rugby, hockey and tennis and has experience in wakeboarding and waterskiing. This will be Ben's first summer at Manitou.

Ginger Derochie
Ropes/Climbing Head
Originally from Sudbury, Ontario, Ginger now lives in St. Catharines working as a substitute teacher. She holds a degree in Physical Eduation from Laurentian University in Sudbury, a B.Ed from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay and Masters of Recreation Management from Acadia University in Nova Scotia. She also holds her level 2 Challenge Course Practitioner, Wilderness First Aid, Ski Instructors, Canoeing Instructors, Open Water Scuba Diving and NLS certifications. She has prior experience as the Director of Camp Ak-O-Mak, Director of Outdoor Education at YLCC and as an instructor at Bark Lake Outdoor Education Centre. She has also won multiple Canadian National Canoeing Championships. Ginger returns for her fourth summer at Manitou as Head of Ropes & Climbing.
Carly Diamond

From Toronto, Ontario, Carly is a student at the University of Western Ontario studying Medical Sciences. Carly has volunteered teaching swimming to children with disabilities for the London Blind Swimming Program. She has previous experience working as a camp counsellor at Camp Tamakwa and in Italy. After travelling to Kenya with Free The Children, to build a school, Carly has become very involved with this organization. Carly holds her NLS and Water Safety Instructors Certifications. A Manitou camper for four years, Carly will be returning for her second summer on staff.

Jenni has experience working as a swimming instructor and lifeguard and currently holds her NLS and Water Safety Instructors Certification. After volunteering in Kenya with Free the Children, Jenni has become actively involved with this charitable organization. A Manitou camper for nine years, Jenni completed our CIT program in 2009. She returns after a year away for her second summer on staff and eleventh at Manitou.
Mark Diamond
Director/Co-Owner
From Toronto, Ontario, Mark works full-time as Owner and Director in Manitou’s winter office. Mark is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario in London with a degree in Law. Mark worked professionally as a Lawyer, Real Estate Developer and Internet Service Provider before realizing his lifelong dream of owning a camp and purchasing Camp Manitou in 1999 with his partner Jeff Wilson. He grew up at Camp White Pine near Haliburton and is now a Fellow in the Society of Camp Directors and an active volunteer with the Ontario Camps Association. In addition to sitting on their board of directors, Mark has chaired the OCA’s Water Standards Task Force and more recently their Standards review Task Force. Mark also sits on the board of Ve’ahavta and has been heavily involved in various other community organizations. This will be his 14th summer at Manitou.
Jenna Dick

From Toronto, Ontario, Jenna is a student at Earl Haig Secondary majoring in Film Studies graduating spring 2012. During the year, Jenna is an Executive member of her school's art council and CANFAR club. She teaches dance at a studio and has been involved with various fundraisers for Diabetes research. A Manitou camper for three years, Jenna completed our CIT program in 2010. This will be her second summer on staff.
Chris Donaldson
Greenhouse Head
From Amhersburg, Ontario, Chris is a graduate of the Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Education, specializing in Outdoor Ecological and Experiential Education. He holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Windsor. This past year, Chris was the President of the Education Student Teachers' Association as well as the student representative from Lakehead University to the OSSTF. He has experience as a Resident Assistant and was the President of the Environmental Studies Club and Coordinator of the “Green Team” while in school. He holds coaching certifications from both OFSAA and the NCCP. This will be Chris’ third summer at Manitou as Head of Greenhouse.

He has past experience volunteering with Sunnyside Garden Daycare and taught Japanese at his high school. A Manitou camper for four years, Brian completed our CIT program in 2009. From West Yorkshire, England, Nina is a student at the University of Bradford studying Geography and Environmental Management. Nina has volunteered as an adult leader on school field trips and was a youth leader for a childrens' sports activity program. She is a nature lover who enjoys outdoor pursuits such as hiking, mountain biking and tennis. This will be Nina's first summer at Manitou.

From Toronto, Ontario, Sally is a student at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia studying Neuroscience. During the year, she has volunteered at the Hospital of Pennsylvania and at free health clinics. A Manitou camper for 5 years, Sally completed our CIT program in 2006. Sally returns to Manitou for her third summer on staff.
Scott Evely
Wood Working Head
From Toronto, Ontario, Scott works during the year facilitating skiing and snowboarding programs with the City of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation. A graduate of the Fire Protection program at Seneca College, Scott has previous experience working with the Boys and Girls Club as a Woodworking instructor and at Camp Olympia working with their off-season programs. In 2008 Scott was named World Games captain. This is Scott's seventh season at Manitou and fourth as Head of Woodworking.
Rachael Farkas
Sailing Head
From Hamilton, Ontario, Rachael is a student at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax studying Textiles. She is a previous graduate of Fanshawe College’s Fine Arts program. Rachael has past experience teaching sailing at the RCSCC in Hamilton for four years. She raced for five years, placing first at the National Cadet Regatta in 2006 and holds her CYA Bronze V certification. This will be Rachael’s second summer at Manitou as Head of Sailing.
Francesca Feldman

From Toronto, Ontario, Francesca is a student at the Bishop Strachan School. During the year, Francesca serves as a Middle School Advisor and has just completed her Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award. She also dances and plays the tuba, drums, trumpet and piano. A Manitou camper for five years, Francesca completed our CIT program in 2011. This will be her first summer on staff.

Originally from South Africa, Kieran now lives on the Isle of Wright in the United Kingdom and is a graduate of the Marine Academy of Warsash. Kieran has been sailing his whole life and has experience teaching at the United Kingdom Sailing Academy and the Island Youth Water Activities Centre. Kieran also is part of the Merchant Navy which has broadened his Nautical and Travel knowledge of the world. After a few years away, Kieran is returning to Manitou for his second summer on staff.

During the year, Julie has volunteered with programs including CANFAR and the Empty Bowls Charity and recently directed a play for the Sears Ontario Drama Festival, which made it to the Regional Level. A Manitou camper for nine years, Julie was awarded the Lokash Award in 2007 and completed our CIT program in 2010. This will be her second summer on staff and eleventh summer at Manitou.
Lanny Foster

From Toronto, Ontario, Lanny is a graduate of Moorpark College in California with a diploma in Broadcast Journalism. Lanny has past experience as a volunteer for Variety Village, Bay St. Hoops, and WWK. HE's written for both his high school and college newspapers. A Manitou camper for eight years, Lanny received the Lokash Award in 2001 and completed our CIT program in 2007. This will be his fifth summer on staff, 13th at Manitou and first as the Head of O.C.S.
Sandy Foster
Theatre Head
From Toronto, Ontario, Sandy worked as a teacher for 31 years in the Recreation and Leisure Services program at Centennial College. Sandy has extensive experience volunteering as a Hockey Coach and leading School Theatre programs. Sandy is renown through the Camping industry after working in leadership positions at day and residential camp programs for over 30 years including Camp White Pine, Camp Walden, Arrowhead Day Camp and Zodiac Day Camp. He has sat on several boards and spoken at conferences and events across Ontario. Sandy spent ten seasons at Manitou as Activity Director and returns for his third season as Head of Theatre.

From Larchmont, New York, Joseph is a student at Mamoroneck High School. During the year, Joseph volunteers as a teacher aid at Head Start Nursery School and is a Founding member and Co-President of his school's Cooking Club. Along with a passion for the outdoors and cooking, Joseph has made canoe tripping a large part of his camp experience for years. He holds his Bronze Cross Certification. A Manitou camper for 6 summers, Joseph completed our CIT program in 2011. This will be his first summer on staff.

Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Jeremy completed medical school there in 1985 and moved to Toronto, Ontario shortly after. He specialized in paediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto from 1990 to 1994, since then he has been on staff at the hospital as the Director of Inpatient Paediatric Medicine. He is also the author of the 2nd edition of the bestselling book The 3 AM Handbook: The most commonly asked questions about your child's health. He returns for his ninth summer at Manitou.

From Dunchurch, Ontario, Dan works during the year as a self-employed forester in the Parry Sound area and is also an avid Animal Rights activist. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a degree in Forestry. Dan returns for his tenth season at Manitou.

Originally from Midland, Ontario, Denise is a graduate of Nipissing University with a degree in Education. She is previously a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a degree in Social Development Studies and from Centennial College in Toronto with a diploma in Recreation and Leisure Services. During the year, Denise is a teacher with the Near North District School Board. Denise has past experience teaching outdoor education at Mentor College and coordinating groups through the offseason at Camp George. She has also coached varsity Girls Basketball teams with Ontario Basketball and high schools in Toronto and Parry Sound. Denise has worked at Manitou as a counsellor, Activity Head, Unit Head, Administrative Director, Head Counsellor and will work her second season as Activity Director supervising daytime programming. In 1998, she was named World Games captain. This will be her 15th summer at Manitou.

From Toronto, Ontario, Spencer is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario in London with a major in Political Science. During the year, Spencer served as the Vice-President of his fraternity and coached competitive hockey. He co-founded and has run The Intercamp Classic, a charity event that supports Kids in Camp. Spencer as canoed everywhere from the Amazon to Algonquin Park and holds his Bronze Cross. Spencer was a Manitou camper for seven years, completing our CIT program in 2006. This will be his sixth summer on staff and 13th at Manitou.

She has trained in Modern, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, and Contemporary, Improv, Lyrical, Pointe, Hip-Hop, Composition and Ballroom. Arina has experience as a performer, teacher and choreographer and has danced at many local, national and international events including the International Jazz Dance Festival in Costa Rica. This will be her first summer at Manitou.

From Kimberly, Idaho, Marissa is a student at Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles, California studying Psychology. Marissa is currently involved in a Service and Leadership Team and has as well as leaderhip in humanitarian efforts in Mexico both through her University. She previously taught piano and dance through Magic Valley School of Performing Arts and tutored math with Twin Falls Learning Center. She also has ben working with clay and taking classes at University for three years This will be Marissa’s second summer at Manitou and first as Head of Pottery.

From Montreal, Quebec, Brad is a graduate of McGill University with a degree in Materials Engineering. He has spent the last year traveling and living abroad; backpacking in East Africa, volunteering at the Ibonde Children’s Home, an orphanage in Uganda, and skiing this winter season in Chamonix, France. Through his studies, he has had the opportunity to do research at Kookmin University in Seoul, South Korea and work as a Process Engineering Co-op with Teck Coal, in the Elk Valley, B.C. Brad has played competitive basketball for many years, highlights include winning a Quebec Provincial Championship and a bronze medal at the Maccabiah Games in Israel in 2005. He has also volunteered as a youth mentor with Ometz Montreal and as a basketball coach at the Montreal JCC and Elkford Secondary School. This will be Brad’s fifth summer at Camp Manitou and first as CIT Coordinator.

Originally from Geoje, South Korea, Ben now lives in Toronto working as a musical director and private music teacher. Ben is a graduate of the University of Calgary with a Masters degree in Music Composition and a graduate of Grimmel College in Iowa with a combined degree in Biology and Music. Ben has extensive experience working as a director, music director, rehearsal pianist, accompanist, and conductor for a range of musical theatre and operatic productions. He was also a member of the University of Calgary Chamber Choir. He has previous camp experience as an English Instructor at Global Rookie Club camp in Korea. This will be Ben’s fourth summer at Manitou.
Dani Klein

From Toronto, Ontario, Dani is currently completing her Bachelor of Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. She is previously a graduate of Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts with a Masters degree in Children’s Literature and of the University of Toronto with a degree in English. Dani has worked with children as a Drama coach, as a belayer with the Toronto Climbing Academy and as a private Nanny. She also has experience working as an instructor with the Climbing Club at the University of Guelph and holds her CUI Level 2 ropes certification. In 2007 Dani was named World Games Captain. Dani returns for her eleventh season on staff at Manitou, fourth as Head of Adventure Park and first as Associate Director focusing on Leadership.

From Thornhill, Ontario, Daniel is a graduate of the University of Guelph with a Bachelors of Commerce Degree. He has spent this past year backpacking across New Zealand and Australia. Daniel was a camper and staff member at Camp New Moon for 14 years where he taught waterskiing and canoeing. He also has experience as a downhill ski instructor at Snowhawks Ski School. He has completed the CampSafe Waterski Instructors course and holds his Bronze Cross. This will be Daniel’s third summer at Manitou as Head of Waterskiing & Wakeboarding.

From Toronto, Ontario, Nicole is a student at Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto. During the year, Nicole serves on her school's athletic council and participates in the peer leadership program. She also plays on the Varsity girls basketball team and volunteers at Baycrest and Beth Torah Synagogue. Nicole holds her NLS certification and earned her second degree black belt in karate. A karate instructor for two years at Summit Karate, Nicole also dances and assists at Vibe Dance School. A Manitou camper for seven years, Nicole completed our CIT program in 2011. From Toronto, Ontario, Stanley is a student at the University of Western Ontario in a Master Program focusing on Microbiology and Immunology. He is a graduate of McMaster University with a degree in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences. This past year, Stanley worked as a teaching assistant and also has volunteered with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Hamilton in the past. He has travelled extensively to Australia and South East Asia. He currently holds his NCCP level 1 coaching certification in basketball. This will be his fifth summer at Manitou and third as Head of Basketball.

This past year, Adam played Junior D hockey for the Thamesford Trojans and previously AAA hockey with the Toronto Red Wings for eight years and won gold for Team Canada at the World Jewish Ice Hockey Championships. An avid waterskier during the summer, Adam also holds his Bronze Cross. He was a Manitou camper for nine years completing our CIT program in 2009. From Arnprior, Ontario, Brent is a graduate of the Outdoor Adventure Leadership Program at Laurentian University in Sudbury. He has extensive canoe tripping experience in Killarney, Algonquin, Kukagami, Temagami, Ottawa River, as well as a 17 day whitewater canoe trip on the Pontax River in Western Quebec. Brent holds his NLS, Swim Instructors, Lifesaving Instructors, Wilderness First Responder, Rescue 3 International SRT, Wilderness Survival, ORCKA canoe tripping level 3, and Wedingo Lakes Adventure Therapy Certifications. This will be his second summer working at Manitou.

From Thunder Bay, Ontario, Taimi now lives in Toronto and is currently finishing up her Bachelor of Education degree in the Primary/Junior division at Charles Sturt University. She is also a graduate of the University of Guelph with a degree in Child Studies and holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education through Humber College. Taimi has worked with many different children’s programs including the Hospital for Sick Children, as a Child Life Assistant, the York Region District School Board, as an Educational Assistant and at Rural Roots Children’s Centre, as an After-School Program Coordinator. She also volunteered as a Camp Counsellor with the Summer Institute for Kids. This will be her sixth summer at Manitou as Head of Crafts & Design

She has been practicing yoga for the past 3 years at Hemma, a local studio in Victoria, specializing in Hatha and Vinyasa Flow. Kyla played competitive field hockey in high school and then went on to coach a girl's spring league team with the Victoria Junior Field Hockey Association. This will be Kyla's first summer at Manitou as Head of Yoga.

This past year, Kayleigh has organized a volunteer group with her peers to visit a senior citizens home in her area on a weekly basis. She has also volunteered with Canadian Food for Children, helping to organize and ship food to children in third world countries. Cassie Martens
Aerobics Head
From St. Catharines, Ontario, Cassie is a student at Brock University studying Concurrent Education for Physical Education and Kinesiology. During the year, Cassie serves as VP of Competition for Brock Dance and has worked teaching dance at Canadian Dance Company and Gymnastics Energy. She has worked as a dance and art camp counsellor at the Canadian Dance Company, has taught aerobics through program placements and worked as a softball coach in the St. Catharines Ladies Softball Learn-to-Play League. This will be Cassie’s second summer at Manitou as Head of Aerobics.
Kara Martin
Photography Head
From Armidale, Australia, Kara is a Registered Nurse and Provisional Psychologist and is the school Nurse at The Armidale School. She is a recent graduate of the University of New England with a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology, Graduate Diploma in Social Science Psychology and Bachelor Degree in Nursing. She also has experience working as an Aupair with autistic children in Marietta, Georgia and now runs the charity SKAN, for children with Autism. Kara is an avid photographer in her spare time on all her travels throughout the world. This will be Kara’s fifth summer at Manitou and first as the Head of Photography.
Abbie Matthews
Creative Arts Assistant
From Melbourne, Australia, Abbie is a graduate of the Unviersity of Ballarat with a Degree in Visual Art and Graduate Diploma in Eduation. Abbie is an art teacher during the year and has worked on art projects with all ages, from age 3 to senior citizens. She has experience in performing and circus, specializing in balloon sculpting and is a fire twister. This will be Abbie's first summer at Manitou.
Wesley McDonald
Baseball Head
From Thamesville, Ontario, Wesley is a graduate of Laurentian University in Sudbury with a degree English. Wesley has past experience as an activity and troop leader with Scouts Canada for five years and is a recipient of the Canadian Chief Scout’s Award. During the year he is an avid writer and works in film. He was also a member of the ‘A’ Chatham Baseball Rep Team for four years. This will be his second summer at Manitou as Head of Baseball.
Chris McKibbin
Associate Director
From Toronto, Ontario, Chris spent much of this past year as 'Coach Chris', coaching the North Toronto Minor Peewee Select Hockey team. Chris has travelled and worked extensively throughout North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, including managing the FIFA Club World Cup 2010 in the United Arab Emirates. In his 5th year teaching, Chris currently teaches Physical Education at Niagara Street Public School in Toronto and previously worked as a Special Education teacher at Highland Heights Public School. Chris holds a degree in Education from OISE in Toronto and a degree in Sociology from the University of Guelph. He also spent several months in an immersion program in Trois Pistoles, Quebec. Chris was named World Games captain in 2001 and has worked at Manitou as a counsellor, Unit Head, Activity Coordinator and Activity Director. He returns for his 13th season on staff and second as Associate Director focusing on residential life and camper issues.
Shane Morganstein

From Toronto, Ontario, Shane is a student at the Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto. graduating this spring. During the year, Shane is involved in building sets for his school’s theatrical productions or debating on the model United Nations Team. A Manitou camper for four years, Shane completed our CIT program in 2010. This will be his second summer on staff.
Samara Morton

From Toronto, Ontario, Samara is a student at Tanenbaum Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto graduating spring 2012. During the year, Samara teaches skiing at Alpine Ski Club holding her level 1 instructor and NCCP level 1 coaching certifications and is the editor for her school yearbook. She also holds her NLS and swimming instructor certifications and has teaching experience with Shendy’s Swim School. A Manitou camper for nine years, Samara completed our CIT program in 2010. This will be her second summer on staff and eleventh at Manitou.
Lindsay Muchnik

From Toronto, Ontario, Linsday is a student at Tanenbaum Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto. During the year, Lindsay is the Co-Head of the Free The Children committee at school and is participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. She volunteers with many organizations including Teens for the Community, UJA and Beth Shalom Synagogue. She holds her NLS and WSI swimming qualifications. A Manitou camper for 7 years, she completed our CIT program in 2011. This will be her first summer on staff.
Jen Murdock
Administrative Director
Originally from St. Albert, Alberta, Jen now lives in Toronto where she works full-time in Manitou’s winter office. She is a graduate of the University of Guelph with a degree in Economics and Mathematics. During the year Jen trains as a marathon runner, has worked as a Math Tutor, volunteers with the Ontario Camps Association and was presented with the OCA’s Ron & Mickey Johnstone Youth Leadership Award in 2011. She also spent a year working as a Residence Advisor while at school. Jen has worked at Manitou as an Activity Head and Unit Head and is currently the Administrative Director focusing on office and business administration. In 2001, Jen was named World Games Captain. This will be her 12th summer at Manitou.
Tara O'Brien
Nurse
From Melbourne, Australia, Tara works as a Paediatric Registered Nurse at the Royal Children's Hospital. She is a graduate of the University of England with a Degree in Nursing. She has also worked as a swimming instructor teaching young children water confidence. Tara is returning for her second summer at Manitou.

From Toronto, Ontario, Aaron is a student at Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto. Aaron has been playing hockey and baseball on multiple teams for most of his life. He has experience volunteering with JDRF, Beth Tzedec Synagogue and UJA. A Manitou camper for ten summers, Aaron completed our CIT program in 2011. This will be his first summer on staff and eleventh at Manitou.
Daniel Oelbaum

From Toronto, Ontario, Daniel is a student at Queen's University in Kingston studying Science. Daniel has worked as a ski instructor at Alpine Ski club and holds his Level 1 CSIA Instructors certification. He was a member of his high school soccer team and has consitently played competitive hockey and soccer since a young age. A Manitou camper for nine years, Daniel completed our CIT program in 2009. This will be his third summer on staff and 12th at Manitou.
Michael Peer

Originally from Dundas, Ontario, Michael now lives in Toronto where he works in Paediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children. A graduate of the Medical School at the University of Western Ontario in London, Michael went on to train in Paediatrics at Sick Kids. He also spent several years at Camp Tawingo growing up. This will be his sixth summer at Manitou.

From Toronto, Ontario, Ali is a student at Forest Hill Collegiate graduating spring 2012. During the winter, Ali teaches skiing at Earl Bales and holds her level 1 CASI instructors certification along with her Bronze Cross. A Manitou camper for eight years, Ali completed our CIT program in 2010. This will be her second summer on staff and tenth at Manitou.

From Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sam is a student at Temple University studying Management Information Systems. During the year, he participates in AIS Club, Relay for Life, and Temple Film Collective. He played Varsity Tennis in High School and is on the Temple Intramural Tennis Team. He was a tennis counsellor at Camp Lobikan. and was also a camper for 6 years. This will be his first summer on staff as Head of Tennis.

From Thornhill, Ontario, Jeff is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario in London with a degree in History. Jeff has past experience as a Ski Instructor at Alpine Ski Club, as a Counsellor at Richmond Hill Day Camp and as a pool technician. He is also an avid waterskier and holds his Bronze Cross. This will be Jeff’s third summer at Manitou.

He has past experience volunteering at the Baycrest Centre and and has been playing the drums since he was 10 years old. A Manitou camper for seven years, Jonah completed our CIT program in 2010. Carly Quintus
Theatre Assistant - Costuming
Originally from North Dakota, Carly now lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota after completing her Anthropology Degree at St. Cloud State University. During this past year, Carly has volunteered at the St. Cloud University Community Garden teaching children of all ages about growing plants specifically for food. She also has experience as a tutor at LaCruz Community Center and at Camp ReCreation, a camp for the mentally disabled. Carly has years of experience camping and hiking throughout the Western United States. This will be Carly's first summer at Manitou.
Natasha Ratcliffe

Originally from London, England, Natasha grew up in Birmingham and now lives in Brighton studying Outdoor Education at Brighton University. Natasha has experience as an Activity Leader at various summer camps and outdoor activity centres. She has also been a youth worker at Bradby Youth Club and Positive Futures focusing on teaching sports. Natasha is a fencing coach and a quad biker supervisor. This will be her first summer at Manitou.
Chuck Reid

From McKellar, Ontario, Chuck is the most recent member of our facility team. He is a licensed carpenter having attended school in Ottawa. He has experience building homes with Viceroy Homes as well as log cabins. This will be his fifth summer at Manitou.
Benjamin Rice
Golf Head
From London, Ontario, Ben is a graduate of Brock University with a Bachelors of Education. He also has a Bachelors Degree majoring in English. This past year, Ben published his first article and won the YMCA Rec League Ping Pong Championship. Ben has previous experience working as a Sports Camp counsellor with the Boys and Girls Club of London, as a Ski Instructor in Whistler/Blackcomb and at golf courses and driving ranges over several years. A competitive Rugby player for 10 years, Benjamin won a silver medal with Team Ontario. He also completed Sparrow Lake Camp’s CIT program and had his own radio show on CKLU FM. This will be Benjamin’s fifth summer at Manitou as Head of Golf.
Megan Richardson
Dance Head
From Kingston, Ontario, Megan is a student at Brock University in St. Catharines studying Child & Youth Studies and Education. During the year, Megan serves as Executive head running the Brock University Dance Team. She previously worked as an instructor at I’ve Got Rhythm School of Dance and has also volunteered with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters foundation and the Kingston Boys and Girls Club. This will be Megan’s second summer at Manitou as Head of Dance.
Steve Richards
Eco-Adventure Head
From Kitchener, Ontario, Steve is a graduate of Brock University in St. Catharines with a degree in Philosophy. He previously completed a Tourism Management program at Niagara College. Steve worked in the Youth University program at his school. He has past experience as a Team Leader and Events Coordinator with Kiddin’ Around Productions and as a teaching assistant at St. Dominic’s Elementary School. He also spent several years playing competitive Soccer and Baseball and holds his Bronze Cross Certification. This will be Steve’s fifth summer at Manitou and second as Head of Eco Adventure.

A competitive hockey player for many years, Josh has also played baseball in the past in various leagues. Josh completed the CIT program at Camp Arrowhead and holds his Bronze Medallion. During the year, Sofie is a choreographer for CHAT’s Dance Fashion Show production, senior yearbook editor, and volunteers to promote Holocaust Education to students. Ropes/Climbing Assistant
From Denver, Colorado, I'm a senior at Azusa Pacific University studying Political Science and Spanish. During the year, Carmen leads students on rock climbing, kayaking and hiking trips on the weekends as part of her school's Outdoor Adventure Program. Carmen has experience as a Nanny and at her church nursery with children aged 6-13 years. Last year, Carmen was a Resident Advisor at school for 24 girls in an alternative campus in Yosemite and also was a Freshman mentor through her school's mentoring program. She holds her Wilderness First Responder Certification. This will be her first summer at Manitou.

Canoe Tripper
From Waterdown, Ontario, Janet is a student in the Outdoor Adventure Leadership Concurrent Education program at Laurentian University in Sudbury. Janet has extensive paddling and tripping experience and has completed a 14 day whitewater canoe trip in Quebec. She holds her Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness Survival, ORCA level 1 and Bronze Cross certifications. She has past experience as a Counsellor at Canterbury Earthkeeper Camp, a mentor at Flamborough Centre School and CanSkate Coach at Flamboro Skating Club. She also previously competed in touch football, rugby and badminton. This will be Janet’s third summer at Manitou.

From Bogota, Colombia, Alex works during the year as a high school Spanish teacher. She is a graduate of Universidad Pedagogica with a degree in Spanish and English Education and is now working towards her Masters Degree at the Universidad de Jaen. Alex has past experience as Ropes Program Director at Camp Rotary near Boston and completed a Technical Skills course with Project Adventure. The following summer, she worked with children on a ranch in Colorado. This will be Alex’s fourth summer on staff.

During the year, Marlee is an Executive member of the Students for Social Justice Club as well as the Vice President of the Amnesty International Club. She also dances competitively at All Thanks Dance and volunteers with fundraising for Free The Children. A Manitou camper for 8 years, Marlee completed our CIT program in 2011. Destiny Schroyer
Pottery Assistant
Originally from Oregon, Destiny is a student at the Azusa Pacific University studying International Business. This past year, Destiny was involved with Project Gateway, a partnership program in South Africa with her University where she was a marketing volunteer for craftspeople in Kwazulu-Natal. She has worked with children of all ages in the last two summers, leading and facilitating campers in a high ropes course at George Fox University's Retreat Center. This will be Destiny's first summer on staff.
Lisa Schwartz
Sophomore Girls Unit Head
From Toronto, Ontario, Lisa is a student at the University of Toronto's Master of Social Work Program. She is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with a degree in Honours Psychology. Lisa has experience as a counsellor, dance instructor, Section Head and CIT Coordinator at B'nai Brith Camp in Kenora, Ontario. Lisa has volunteered with various organizations including Future Possibilities for Kids, The Hinck-Dellcrest Centre and Merrymount Children's Centre. She taught Sunday School at Temple Israel Religious School in London, Ontario and this past year, taught dance at Branksome Hall as part of their co-curricular progarm. Lisa holds her Bronze Cross and Wilderness First Aid Certifications. The will be her first year on staff at Manitou as Sophomore Girls Unit Head.
Matthias Sebecke

Originally from South Africa, Matthias now lives in Peterborough and is a student in the Fish and Wildlife Tech program at Sir Sandford Flemming College. He has past work experience planting trees with the OFAH Atlantic Salmon Restoration program. He also took part in a Cadet leadership camp, holds his ORCA basic B, CYA white sail 2 and Bronze Medallion certifications. This will be his third summer working at Manitou.
David Sheffe
Assistant Director
From Toronto, Ontario, David works full-time between Manitou’s winter office and managing Spring and Fall groups in addition to the general facility on site from April to October David is a graduate of the Recreation and Leisure Services Program at Centennial College where he now teaches as a part-time Professor during the year. Dave has also done a number of volunteer positions with the Ontario Camps Association. In Camping throughout his life, David grew up at Camp Northland near Haliburton, then worked in Youth Outreach for the Town of Markham and Directed Vaughan Summer Day Camps. He holds his NLS and is a licensed water systems Technician. David has worked at Manitou as a Unit Head, CIT Coordinator, Program Director and is currently the Assistant Director focusing on facility development, waterfront safety, Staffing and programming. David also directs all of our off-season groups in our spring and fall shoulder seasons. This will be his 14th summer at Manitou
Alec Sherman

From Toronto, Ontario, Alec is a student at the North Toronto Collegiate Institute. An avid musician, Alec spends most of his time behind some sort of instrument. A Manitou camper for 9 years, Alec completed our CIT program in 2011. This will be his first summer on staff and tenth at Manitou.
Karen Shopsowitz
Video Production Head
From Toronto, Ontario, Karen is a Peabody-award winning film-maker (for the NFB-produced doc, My Father's Camera), who has worked on numerous television productions as a producer, director, camera person, editor and writer.  Her recent credits include producer/director and editor of One Summer at Camp Winston, for CBC's documentary channel, about a camp for kids with neurological disorders; she is currently in production on a one hour doc for TVO and is developing several other projects, including a fiction series.  Karen has over 20 year of camp experience including seasons at Camp White Pine, Camp Walden and Zodiac Swim & Specialty Camp.  She returns for her eighth summer at Manitou as Head of Video Production.
Tamar Silverbrook
Swim Head
From Toronto, Tamar is a student at the University of Western Ontario studying global development and psychology. During the year, Tamar is the VP of Western’s Rights and Democracy Association and has past volunteer experience building a school in Kenya, with Free the Children. Tamar has also been the event coordinator for fundraisers for Seva Canada and Save a Child’s Heart. She was a competitive swimmer for three years during high school and was elected captain of the team. For the past four summers, she has been an aquatic coordinator, lifeguard and swim instructor for a private swim school. Tamar holds her NLS and Water Safety Instructors Certifications. This will be Tamar's first summer at Manitou as the Head of Swim.

Holly Smith

From Reeth, North Yorkshire, England, Holly is a student at Queen Elizabeth College studying Sciences. During the year, Holly works as a teaching assistant at Arkengarthdale Primary School working with children ages 4 - 11 years. She has been performing in plays, variety shows and pantomimes since 2006. This will be Holly's first summer at Manitou.
Alana Spira

From Toronto, Ontario, Alana is a student at Queen’s University in Kingston studying Science. During the year, Alana is involved in the Jewish student organization Hillel. She was previously involved in her school Holocaust Education Committee and competed with the Cross Country team. She also has experience as a volunteer programmer with Na’amat. A Manitou camper for six years, Alana completed our CIT program in 2008. This will be her fourth summer on staff and tenth at Manitou.
Sarah Spitz

From Toronto, Ontario, Sarah is a student at Carleton University in Ottawa studying Journalism. During the year, Sarah writes for her school's newspaper, Hillel Ottawa and performs with the Carleton Improv Association. She holds her NLS certification and has volunteered with the North York Aquatic Club. A Manitou camper for four years, Sarah completed our CIT program in 2008. This will be her fourth summer on staff.
Elizabeth Stellick

From Mississauga, Ontario, Elizabeth is a student at McGill University in Montreal studying Elementary Education. During the year, Elizabeth volunteers with McGill's Best Buddie Organization, working with individuals with special needs, as well as at an elementary classroom in Montreal. She previously worked at as a camp counsellor at The Ranch in Oakville and also was a participant in the Blyth Academy Leadership Program in Paris, France. This will be Elizabeth's first summer on staff.

From Toronto, Ontario, Jessi is a graduate of Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo with a Degree in Film and Sociology. This past year, Jessi was very involved with her school's Student Union, sitting as an executive member of their Food Bank, Activities Team as well as in Orientation week. Jessi was a Manitou camper for six years completing our CIT program in 2006. This will be her sixth summer on staff, 2nd as Rec Room Head and 12th at Manitou.
Robyn Stevens
Health Care Assistant
From Guelph, Ontario, Robyn is a student at the University of Ottawa studying Nursing. Robyn has worked for almost five years as a lifeguard and swimming instructor with the City of Guelph. She holds her NLS, swimming instructor, first aid instructor, AED, aquatic supervisor and bronze examiner certifications and competes with her school’s competitive lifeguard team. She volunteers regularly with at Roger's House, a paediatric palliative care facility. She has also participated in humanitarian trips to Guatemala, Tanzania and the Philippines. This will be Robyn’s second summer at Manitou.

A Manitou camper for nine years, Arielle received the Lokash Award in 2009 and completed our CIT program in 2010. This will be her second summer on staff and 11th at Manitou.

From Auckland, New Zealand, Sam is a student at Utago University studying Graphic Design and Marketing and is currently on an exchange at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Sam has past experience as a Holiday Program Instructor at The Leisure Centre and as a counsellor at Kristin School Island Camp. He has also played and coached soccer for many years and worked as a Lifeguard at The Leisure Centre. Sam is returning to Manitou for his second summer on staff.

From Ballarat, Australia, Lee is a graduate of Monash University with a Degree in Engineering and Marketing. He has been performing on stage since the age of 10, performing in plays and playing piano. Lee has also been an umpire for Australian Rules Football in the Ballarat Football League. This will be Lee's first summer at Manitou.
Emma Thompson

From London, England, Emma is a student at the University of West England studying Real Estate. During the year, Emma captains her University tennis team and coaches at her local tennis club. She holds her PTR tennis coaching qualification. She has previous experience working at a YMCA camp in Gibsons, British Columbia. This will be Emma's first summer at Manitou.

From Barcelona, Spain, Santi is a student at Oak House School. Santi plays soccer at a very high level and also has experience coaching children. This past year, he organized a charity run at his school and is also the elected delegated of his class. He holds his Bronze Cross certification. A Manitou camper for four summers, Santi completed our CIT Program in 2011. This will be his first summer on staff.

From Windsor, Ontario, Christina is a graduate of the University of Windsor’s Drama in Education and Community program. She is also a recent graduate of their Bachelor of Education Program. Christina has 12 years dance experience and six years of drama and theatre work. In 2010, Christina was named World Games Captain. This will be her fifth summer at Manitou and second as the Freshkid Unit Head.
Robbie Venis
Counsellor
From Toronto, Ontario, Robbie is a student at the Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto graduating spring 2012. During the year, Robbie plays competitive volleyball and also coaches volleyball. He has experience volunteering with Ve’ahavta, plays guitar and holds his Bronze Medallion. A Manitou camper for nine years, Robbie completed our CIT program in 2010. This will be his second summer on staff and eleventh at Manitou.
Tyler Warren
Counsellor
From Newcastle, Australia, Tyler is a student at the University of Newcastle studying Environmental Science and Management and is currently on exchange at California State University. During the year, Tyler plays competitive soccer and has played in a number or representative sides. He has coached soccer at the Lake Macquarie City Football Club and West Wallsend Soccer Club for children of all ages. He also has previously been a competitive swimmer and swam at national level. This will be Tyler's first summer on staff.
Jeremy Weiss

Originally from Montreal, Quebec, Jeremy lived in Birmingham, England before moving to Thornhill, Ontario where he attends Thornhill Secondary School During the year, he is involved in his school community working as a school Prefect and Mentor as well as being a part of his school's Student Restorative Approaches Committee and SickKids Foundation Club. Jeremy is the recipient of the William McVicar Award for outstanding achievement in academics and community involvement. A Manitou camper for 4 years, Jeremy completed our CIT Program in 2011. This will be his first summer on staff.
Shannon Weissman
Counsellor
From Toronto, Ontario, Shannon is a student at Forest Hill Collegiate. During the year, Shannon volunteers tutoring children through the Ve'ahavta Homework Club and is the President of her school's In the Driver's Seat Club. She holds her NLS and WSI certifications. A Manitou camper for 5 years, Shannon completed our CIT Program in 2011. This will be her first summer on staff.
Michael Weizel
Junior Boys Unit Head
From Toronto, Ontario, Mike is a student at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec studying Economics. During the year, Mike plays and coaches hockey and soccer and has over 15 years experience in competitive soccer and volleyball leagues. He has also spent time volunteering with NCSY. A Manitou camper for five years, Mike completed our CIT program in 2006. This will be his sixth summer on staff, second as Junior Boys Unit Head and eleventh at Manitou.
Blake Weld
Canoe Tripper
From Minneapolis, Minnesota, Blake is a graduate of St. Cloud State University with a Fine Arts degree specializing in Photography. Blake has several years experience working as a counsellor at a youth hunting camp and has led a number of canoe trips to the Boundary Waters. Blake holds his Wilderness and Remote First Aid. This will be his second summer at Manitou.
Jay Wengle
Program Director
From Thornhill, Ontario, Jay teaches science Richmond Hill High School. He holds a B.Ed from OISE, specializing in Biology and Health and Phys. Ed., an Masters of Science in Biomedical Science from the University of Guelph and studied Medicine for two years in Australia.  He has taught youth at the York Centre, a mental health treatment program in York Region and Health science at York University. Jay has worked with Right to Play on a Royal family of Dubai Initiative to develop the Dubai Health curriculum, and organized the British Virgin Islands Unity Games, an Island wide school program teaching health through games and sport. At SickKids hospital in Toronto, Jay managed a research study for overweight teens and co-authored the book Get a Healthy Weight for your Child.  Jay has worked at Manitou for twelve seasons as a Counsellor, Unit Head, and Activity Head, founding our Greenhouse Program in 2009.  He returns for his 15th season at camp and third as Program Director.
Shelby Wenus
Counsellor
From Toronto, Ontario, Shelby is a student at Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto. During the year, Shelby is an assistant swimming instructor at Davina's Swim House and volunteers at her Synagogue planning programs for children. She holds her Bronze Cross and WSI certifications. A Manitou camper for nine years, Shelby completed our CIT Program in 2011. This will be her first summer on staff and tenth at Manitou.
Landon Wexler
Canoe Tripper
From Toronto, Ontario, Landon is a student at the University of Guelph studying Marketing. During the year, Landon has worked as a Hockey Instructor with the Forest Hill Hockey Organization and has played hockey for many years. He completed the CIT program at Camp Timberlane and holds his Bronze Cross. A Manitou camper for six years, Landon returns for his fourth summer on staff and tenth at Manitou.
Stephanie Wezelman
Newspaper Head
From Tucson, Arizona, Stephanie is a student of the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying Journalism and Entrepreneurship. Stephanie is the chair for the UW Homecoming Committe and does copy editing for the schoo paper. She has past experience as a C.I.T. and Counsellor at Friendly Pines Camp and is belay certified. This will be Stephanie’s third summer on staff and first as Newspaper Head.
Jerisse Williams
Sailing Assistant
From Antigua, West Indies, Jerisse works as a sailing instructor at the Antigua Yacht Club. He spent a year studying at Antigua State College,is a level 2 certified Dingy instructor and RYA power boat operator and is working towards his Yacht Masters this year. He has raced competitively for several years including a 3rd place finish at the Antigua Laser Open in 2010 and 3rd place at the CSA Caribbean Dinghy Championship in 2009. This will be Jerisse’s second summer at Manitou.
Adam Wilson

From Toronto, Ontario, Adam is a student at Crestwood Preparatory Academy graduating spring 2012. During the year Adam plays competitive rugby and hockey. He also holds his Bronze Medallion. A Manitou camper for four years, Adam completed our CIT program in 2010. This will be his second summer on staff.
Jeff Wilson
Director/Co-Owner
From Toronto, Ontario, Jeff works full-time as Owner and Director in Manitou’s winter office. Jeff studied Photography at Sheridan College and worked briefly as a Travel Agent, but truly has devoted his life to camping. After growing up at Camp White Pine near Haliburton and spending almost 10 years as their full-time Program Director, Jeff went on to join the Ownership/Director team at Camp Tamakwa in Algonquin Park before joining with his partner Mark Diamond to purchase Camp Manitou in 1999. A Fellow in the Society of Camp Directors, Jeff also has many years experience working with the Ontario Camps Association and has been invited to speak at their annual conference on many occasions. This will be his 14th summer at Manitou.
Jordy Winkler

From Toronto, Ontario, Jordy is a student at the York School graduating spring 2012. Jordy spent this first part of this year attending Neuchatel College and spent time volunteering in the community as well as organizing a national swim meet. She holds her Bronze Cross and WSI certifications. A Manitou camper for six years, Jordy completed our CIT program in 2010. This will be her second summer on staff.
Molli Worb
Counsellor
From Toronto, Ontario, Molli is a student at Tanenbaum Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto graduating spring 2012. During the year, Molli teaches skiing at Alpine Ski Club holding her CSIA level 1 and NLS certifications. She has also volunteered with Out of the Cold and served as chairperson for Teens for the Community. A Manitou camper for nine years, Molli completed our CIT program in 2010. This will be her second summer on staff.
Lawrence Yee
Soccer Head
From Meaford, Ontario, Lawrence is a graduate of University of Guelph-Humber for Business Administration. Lawrence has previous camp experience as a sport instructor at Camp Huronda, operated by the Canadian Diabetes Association. He also has experience coaching recreational and competitive soccer for over 10 years and is OSA and NCCP certified. Lawrence has played in recreational and competitive soccer leagues for over 15 years including five years as a goalie. This will be his first summer at Manitou as the Head of Soccer.
