Christine Barbaro
Unit Heads
From Toronto, Ontario, Christine has been working for the past three years with Marsham International Health Food Brokers as an Assistant Brand Manager. She is a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a degree in Sociology. Christine has worked with and attended various leadership workshops over the past several years and is also a certified climbing instructor. Christine was named World Games Captain in 1999 and has worked at Manitou as a counsellor, Unit Head and Activity Head. This is her ninth season on staff and third as CIT Coordinator.
Shoshana Bentley-Jacobs

From Toronto, Ontario, Shoshana is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with an honours degree in English. After spending several summers as a camper at Camp Walden in Bancroft, Shoshana worked there for three summers on staff as a counsellor and assisting on evening and camp-wide programming. She also has a year's experience volunteering as a Literacy Instructor. She returns for her second season at Manitou and first as Senior Girls Unit Head.
Michael Chan

From Tecumseh, Ontario, Michael is a graduate of the University of Windsor with a degree in Communications. Mike has been an avid golfer for many years and has also played competitive soccer, football and hockey. He has worked as a baseball umpire and soccer referee. Michael has also been involved in the Scouts Organization having earned his Chief Scout's Award. He returns for his third season at Manitou and first as Sophomore Boys Unit Head.
Justin Hanna

Originally from Montreal, Quebec, Justin grew up in Vancouver, British Colombia and is a recent graduate of Humber College's Post Graduate Marketing Management program in Toronto. He is also a graduate of Simon Frasier University's Criminology and Political Science programs and is currently launching his own online company called FIGJAM Apparel. He has prior experience as the Head Coach of the Mt. Seymour Ski Club racing team and worked for a summer as a counsellor at Camp Lincoln for Boys in the United States. He holds his CYA Bronze 4 certification and his Bronze Cross. This will be his fifth summer on staff at Manitou, and third as Senior Boys Unit Head.
Julie Klein

From Toronto, Ontario, Julie is a student at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec studying Education and English. Julie has previous camp experience working as a supervisor at RAC Camp in Toronto and as a counsellor for three years at Camp Timberlane in Haliburton. She has also worked as an Early Childhood Education Assistant at WoodGreen Child Care. This will be Julie's first summer at Manitou as Junior Girls Unit Head.

From Tecumseh, Ontario, Dan is a graduate of the University of Windsor with a degree in History and Communications. Dan has experience as a High School Baseball and Atom Hockey coach. In 2005, Dan was names World Games Captain. He returns for his fourth summer at Manitou and his second as Junior Boys Unit Head.

From Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Julia is a student at Wilfred Laurier University studying Psychology. Julia has worked as a floor rep in her school residence. She also has experience working as a counsellor and lead youth coordinator at Maryhill Summer Camp and as an assistant coach in the Kitchener-Waterloo Baseball League. She was a CIT at Sports World Day Camp in 1999 and holds her Bronze Medallion. Julia returns for her third season on staff and first as Sophomore Girls Unit Head.
Jay Wengle

From Thornhill, Ontario, Jay has spent the past year teaching Health at York University and managing a research study for overweight teens at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Jay has also co-authored the book Getting a Healthy Weight for your Child. Jay holds a degree in Education from OISE, specializing in Health and Physical Education and his MSc from the University of Guelph. He also spent two years studying Medicine in Australia. Jay has worked at Manitou for nine seasons, including eight as a Unit Head. He returns for his tenth season at camp and third as Freshkids Unit Head.
Stephanie Abramovich

From Dundas, Ontario, Stephanie is a graduate of the Small Business and Entrepreneurship program at Mohawk College. She has also completed the Arts and Science program at Fanshawe College in London. While at Fanshawe, Stephanie played on their Varsity Women's Basketball team. She has coaching experience with the Junior Varsity team at Parkside Highschool and with the Dundas Dynamo House League where she also worked as a summer camp counsellor for two seasons. She returns for her second summer at Manitou as Head of Basketball.
Ben Allsop

From Kingsville, Ontario, Ben is a part time student at St. Clair College in the Developmental Service Worker program. Ben also works with the Essex County School Board as an Educational Assistant working with special needs students, and coaches Baseball and Basketball. He also has experience as a Respite Support Worker. Ben joins us for his first summer at Manitou as Head of O.C.S.
Dave Almon

From Toronto, Ontario, Dave is a graduate of the University of Calgary with a degree in Kinesiology. While in school, Dave was the starting defensive halfback of the Calgary Dino's varsity men's football team. Dave also has two years experience coaching midget and high school football. More recently, Dave has experience working with the RiverWatch Science Program on the Bow River. Dave holds his level 1 River Guide certification as well as intermediate Scuba Diving certification. He returns for his second summer at Manitou and first as Head of Radio/Media.

From Tucson, Arizona, Acacia is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in Studio Art and Graphic Design. Acacia has prior experience as a counsellor and art instructor at Camp Romaca in Massachusetts. She also has worked as a childcare attendant at Gold's Gym for three years and as a Math tutor. She returns for her second summer on staff at Manitou and first as Head of Visual Arts.
Ann Coleman

From Calgary, Alberta, Ann is a graduate of the Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver, British Colombia where she focused on Ceramics and Sculpture. Ann has prior experience working at an arts camp in Calgary. She was also a synchronized swimmer for seven years and holds her NLS certification. This will be her third summer at Manitou and second as Head of Pottery.
Meredith Crouch

From London, Ontario, Meredith is a student at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton studying Chemical Engineering. Meredith has previous camp experience working as a Lifeguard at Algoma Music Camp and the two summers prior, as a Sail Instructor at HMCS Ontario Sea Cadet Camp. She has also worked as an English Tutor. Meredith holds her NLS, Swimming Instructors, CYA Green Instructors, PCO and Restricted Operator's Certifications. She has also completed the Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Standard. She returns for her second summer at Manitou as Head of Sailing.
Maggie Dawson

From Vancouver, British Colombia, Maggie is a student at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario studying History and International Development. She has been travelling over the past year in Ghana, interning with the Soo Traditional Area Development Foundation, and teaching literacy at a small rural library. Maggie has previous experience working as an Au Pair in England, working at an orphanage in Peru and coaching figure skating for five years. This will be her third season working at Manitou and first as Head of Eco Adventure.
Kyle Dine

From Kingston, Ontario, Kyle is a graduate of the University of Ottawa with a degree in Commerce and is currently launching his own e-business called Allergy Translation. Kyle has been playing guitar for years, having performed in coffee houses from Kingston to Ottawa and has taught private and group guitar lessons over the past five years. He is currently working on a new project for children with food allergies called "You Must Be Nuts!" He has played competitive Volleyball, Baseball and Badminton and has experience coaching Volleyball. In 2001, Kyle worked at Bayridge Leadership Camp as a head counsellor. In 2005, he was named World Games Captain at Manitou. He returns for his fifth summer on staff and fourth as Head of Guitar.
Jeff Donnelly

From Sudbury, Ontario, Jeff has been working over the past two years but will be returning to College in the fall for Power Engineering. Jeff was a competitive hockey player for over 14 years and also has seven years experience as a referee. He has also been an active golfer for over 10 years. Jeff returns after two years away for his third summer at Manitou and first as Head of Golf.

From Toronto, Ontario, Scott has been working over the past year as a rockclimbing instructor, and has also spent time at Camp Olympia working with their off-season programs. Scott has also been a skiing instructor with the City of Toronto for the past seven years. A graduate of the Fire Protection program at Seneca College, Scott also has previous experience working with the Boys and Girls Club as a Woodworking instructor and has three years experience working as a baseball umpire. This will be his fourth summer at Manitou and first as Head of Woodworking.

From Uxbridge, Ontario, Meaghan has recently completed her MA in English Literature at Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo. She previously had completed her undergraduate work at the University of Western Ontario in London where she was presented with the AUCC Award and the UWO Go Global Award for contribution to International Study. Meaghan has trained in Swimming, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Soccer, Ice Hockey, Waterskiing, Yoga and is also a Marathon Runner. She has prior camp experience at Camp Olympia and Canadian Adventure Camp. Meaghan returns for her second summer at Manitou and first as Head of Aerobics.
Dan (Goldy) Goldenberg

From Toronto, Ontario, Goldy has been articling at the law firm Heenan Blaikie. He is a graduate of the Osgoode Law program and also holds a degree in Philosophy and Music Technology from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. Dan has 15 years of camp experience including several years on staff at Camp Tamakwa in Algonquin Park and more recently teaching waterskiing at Manitou. Goldy also spent summers as Senior Boys Unit Head and CIT Coordinator and hold his Bronze Cross. Goldy returns to Manitou for his seventh season at second as Head of Waterski/Wakeboarding.

From Toronto, Ontario, Jon is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario in London with a degree in Kinesiology. Jon is a certified Can-Fit Pro personal trainer. He also has many years experience with the Toronto Inline Roller Hockey League as well as with Hillcrest Ice Hockey. In 2001, he worked as a volunteer at Camp Kinneret holds his ORCA level D in Canoeing and has experience playing competitive baseball. Jon returns for his fourth Manitou summer and his second as Head of In-Line Hockey.

From Belle River, Ontario, Jocelyn is a graduate of the University of Windsor with a degree in English Language and Literature. Last year, she also spent a semester studying abroad in England. Jocelyn has been playing on varsity, rep and house league Soccer teams for most of the past 16 years. She also has experience working as a tutor through Belle River Public School and has been a classroom volunteer. This will be Jocelyn's second summer at Manitou as Head of Soccer.
Dani Klein

Dani has worked with children as a Drama coach, and as a belayer with the Toronto Climbing Academy and is currently working as a private Nanny. She also has experience working as an instructor with the Climbing Club at the University of Guelph and holds her level 1 ropes certification. Dani returns for her sixth season on staff at Manitou and first as Head of Ropes and Climbing.
Tamar Krauss

From Toronto, Ontario, Tamar is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario in London with a degree in Health Science. Tamar was a member of the Canadian Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, later working as a gymnastics and dance coach and choreographer at Kalev Rhythmic Gymnastics Club and earning her NCCP level one coaching certification. Tamar founded the Yoga program at Manitou in 2004 and returns to Manitou for her third summer on staff as Head of Yoga.

Brian has six years experience volunteering as a Scout Leader and has also been a member of the senior staff at the National Music Camp of Canada teaching the Classical Double Bass. He holds Canoe Tripping Certification through Scouts Canada as well as his Bronze Medallion and Wilderness First Aid certifications. He returns for his third year on staff at Manitou and first as Head of Canoe Tripping.

Originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Taimi now lives in Toronto and is taking courses with the University of Guelph in the Child Studies program while working part time with the Hospital for Sick Children. Taimi also has a diploma in Early Childhood Education through Humber College. Taimi has previous experience doing placements with the Sunburst Children's Centre and at the Hydro Bright Lights Childcare Centre. She also volunteered as a Camp Counsellor with the Summer Institute for Kids. This will be her first summer at Manitou.
Megan McKinley

From Alameda, California, Megan teaches Drama and English at San Leandro High School. She is a graduate of Saint Mary's College of California with her Single Subject Teaching Credential and has a degree in English from the University of California. Megan has previous camp experience with Alameda Teen Centre Adventure Camp and has also worked as a Dance Instructor and Choreographer with Head Royce School, as a Water Safety Instructor with Mariners Square Athletic Club and as a Musical Theatre Instructor with Dance 10 Studios. This will be Megan's first summer at Manitou as Head of Theatre.

From Ancaster, Ontario, Ashley is a student at the University of Guelph studying History. Ashley works during the year as a Swimming Instructor and Lifeguard with the YMCA. She has past experience working for a season as a private Nanny, as well as working as a counsellor at YMCA John Island Camp and has volunteered with the D.R.E.A.M.S. program building houses in the Dominican Republic. She hold her NLS certification and is working toward her ORCA Flatwater Instructors certification. Ashley returns for her second summer at Manitou and first as Head of Canoeing and Kayaking.
Yossi Niznik

From Thornhill, Ontario, Yossi is a student at York University in Toronto studying Kinesiology. Yossi has played competitive baseball and volleyball for many years, having played AAA hardball with the Thornhill Reds. He also has been training in competitive dance for over 10 years, winning four Canadian titles. Yossi has experience working as a Dance and Drum instructor at Vlad's Dance Company and volunteers with a youth program at his synagogue. He returns for his third season at Manitou and first as Head of Baseball.
Mike Plume

Originally from Moncton, New Brunswick, Mike now lives in Nashville, Tennessee after having spent considerable time in Edmonton, Alberta and Toronto, Ontario working as a professional singer, song writer and guitar player. Mike began touring in 1987, and in 1993 released his first CD Songs from a Northern Town. Since then he and the "Mike Plume Band" followed up with eight more CDs, including his most recent release Rock and Roll Recordings, Vol. 1 Growing up, Mike also played Hockey and Football. He returns for his third summer at Manitou as Head of Rock Music.

From Glasgow, Scotland, Andrew is a graduate of the University of Glasgow with a degree in Infection Biology. Andrew is a certified PTR Tennis coach with 7 years coaching experience at Strathgryffe Tennis & Squash Club. He has spent the past three summers working at Camp Taconic in Massachusetts as a counsellor and Tennis Instructor. He also holds his American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification. Andrew joins us for his first summer at Manitou as Head of Tennis.
Karen Shopsowitz

From Toronto, Ontario, Karen has worked on numerous television productions as a director, editor and writer, over the past 15 years. Her recent credits include series producer, director and co-editor of the three part series, Canada's War in Colour, which aired on CBC (and for which she received a Gemini nomination), and My Father's Camera, produced by the National Film Board of Canada, which was screened at several film festivals, and which was awarded the prestigious Peabody Award. Karen also works as a cameraperson, and is currently developing a dramatic series for television. She returns for her third summer at Manitou as Head of Video Production.

Odessa Wowk

From St. Albert, Alberta, Odessa is a graduate of the University of Calgary with a degree in Dance. She holds a Dance Diploma from Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton in addition to training and certificates in Ballet (RAD & ISTD), Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Lyrical and Ukrainian Folk Dance. She has studied at the University of Havana, The Edge in Los Angeles, Broadway Dance Centre and Steps in Broadway in New York. She has also competed in Alberta, Florida, California and Hawaii; and has teaching experience at The Art of Dance and at Dance Unlimited. This will be her second season at Manitou as Head of Dance.
Luis Arevalo Recalde

From Pasto Narino, Colombia, Luis works as a full time music teacher. He has studied Music, Architecture and German Language and also plays with his own band, having experience with guitar, keyboards and drums. A regular volunteer with the YMCA in Colombia, Luis also has camp experience in the United States at Camp Woodhaven and the Cambridge School of Weston Summer Day Camp, both in Massachusetts. He joins us for his first summer at Manitou.

From Kingston, Ontario, Daniel has been working for the past year in Windsor as a Tool and Dye apprentice. Daniel has extensive Canoe Tripping experience over the past 5 years in locations such as Algonquin Park; the Adirondack Mountains and Labrador through Gould Lake Outdoor Centre. He holds his ORCA Flatwater Instructor, Tripping Level 2, Moving Water Level 1 as well as his Bronze Cross and Wilderness First Aid certifications. Daniel joins us for his first summer at Manitou.

From Campbellville, Ontario, Jen is a student at Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo studying Geography. Jen is the captain of Laurier's Varsity Women's Swim Team and has been swimming competitively for over 14 years. She holds her NLS and Swimming Instructors certifications and worked as a lifeguard and swimming instructor with the town of Milton for three years. This will be her third summer at Manitou.

From London, Ontario, George is a student at South Secondary School. During the year, George competes on his school's Swim and Cross Country teams and is also involved with the Music Council and Senior Jazz Band. George has previous experience as a Lifeguard at Algoma Music Camp and holds his NLS. This will be his first summer on staff at Manitou.

From Sarnia, Ontario, Colette is a student at the University of Windsor studying French language. She previously spent one year studying Recreation at Memorial University. Colette has previous experience on staff at Camp Tamakwa and as an LIT at Camp Medeba. She was also a volunteer in the Katimavik program, spent a year working as a nanny in Banff Alberta and holds her NLS certification. This will be Colette's first summer at Manitou.
Ryan Forman

From Toronto, Ontario, Ryan is a graduate of Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia with a degree in Sociology. A former ranked Junior Tennis player in Ontario, Ryan also has coaching experience as the Head of Tennis at Zodiac Day Camp in Toronto. In 2005, Ryan helped to set up The Ryan Forman Corneal Equipment Fund and has been actively organizing fundraising activities to support the Toronto General and Western Hospital Foundations. He returns for his second summer on staff at Manitou.
Matt Freder

From Westmount, Quebec, Matthew is a student at McGill University studying Mechanical Engineering. He has been a keen waterskiier for many years and holds his NLS and Swimming Instructors certification and his PCO card. He is also an NCCP level 1 Downhill Skiing coach. Matt was a Manitou camper for three summers, completing our CIT program in 2003. This will be his seventh summer at camp and fourth on staff.
David Gardos

From Toronto, Ontario, David is a student in the Faculty of Law at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. David also holds a degree in History from the University of Western Ontario in London. David worked for three years at Camp Northland as a Unit Head and as their Head of Tennis. He holds his OTA level 1 certification. He also has experience directing and starring on stage for CoLe Theatrical Productions. This will be David's first summer at Manitou.
Lisa Lang

Originally from Oakville, Ontario, Lisa is a graduate of the Outdoor Pursuits program at the University of Calgary in Alberta and has spent the past year working in Toronto. Lisa has worked as a group leader and lifeguard in several camp settings and has been trained in lead climbing, multipitch, top roping, ropes safety & rescue, and alpine and glacier travel in the Rocky Mountains and has experience teaching a University level rock-climbing course. She holds her level 2 swift water rescue certification, is an ARCA certified Class 1 river instructor and holds her NLS. She also completed the LIT program at Camp Madeba and holds her RCM grade 10 level in piano. In 2005, she was named World Games Captain. Lisa returns for her fifth summer on staff at Manitou.

From Chicago, Illinois, Ruth is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in Fine Arts and is now currently working for Decor Galor in Northbrook. She also maintains Emission Studios, and artists run collaborative in Chicago. Ruth has many years experience working as a Lifeguard and Swimming instructor with the American Red Cross. She also has experience working as a nursery supervisor and more recently worked as an assistant at the Phyllis Bramson Studio. Ruth returns for her third summer working at Manitou.
Hayley Levinter

From Toronto, Ontario, Hayley has been studying Photography through York University and Pikto. Hayley also holds a degree in Sociology from York University and has taken courses in Fashion at George Brown College and Photography through Toronto Image Works. Hayley was at Camp White Pine for 14 years, including four summers on staff. She was also a competitive figure skater for many years and holds her Bronze Cross. This will be Haley's fourth summer on staff at Manitou.

From Vancouver, British Columbia, Karen is a graduate of the Emily Carr Institute with a degree in Fine Arts. She previously completed a Fine Arts diploma at Langara College. Karen has specialized in ceramics, especially sculptural, but also has experience with digital mediums. She has previous experience with AWANA, a children's outreach ministry, as well as at Hastings Summer Safari Daycamp. This will be her first summer at Manitou.
Lauren Markowski

From Kingston, Ontario, Lauren is a student at the University of Western Ontario in London studying Visual Arts. Lauren has experience as a Lifeguard and Swimming Instructor with Progress Fitness and Aquatics Centre, the Kingston YMCA and Varty Lake Swim Program. After taking many courses through the Gould Lake Outdoor Centre travelling through Algonquin Park, the Adirondacks and James Bay, she holds her OCRA Tripping 2, Flatwater Instructor and Moving Water 1A certifications, along with her Wilderness First Aid, NLS and Swimming Instructor certs. This will be Lauren's second summer working at Manitou.
Fraser McIntosh

From Kelowna, British Columbia, Fraser is a student at the University of British Colombia's Okanagan Campus studying Ecology. Fraser has been rock climbing for over six years and also coaches volleyball at KLO Middle School. He spent one summer as a volunteer at the Vancouver Aquarium and is also a certified PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. This will be his second summer at Manitou.
Melanie McNeill

Originally from Carleton Place, Ontario, Melanie has been living in Toronto for the past several years working on theatrical productions including The Lord of the Rings, Mama Mia!, Hairspray and The Producers as well as a number of "Fringe" shows. Melanie is a graduate of the Technical Theatre Program at Ryerson Theatre School and has experience as a designer, cutter, painter, prop maker, puppet clothier and more. She returns for her third summer at Manitou.

From Brisbane, Australia, Ian is a graduate of Griffith University with a degree in Environmental Science in Ecology and Conservation Biology. He has spent much of the few years travelling throughout Canada and Europe. Ian has experience working with Games Plus doing Team Building games and activities for children and adults and has also been working off season groups with Camp Olympia. He has played competitive Rugby and Track and Field and has taken several years of Guitar. Ian returns for his third summer at Manitou.

Carly previously spent a semester with Outward Bound Canada College building her Tripping and Paddling skills. She holds her Wilderness First Aid, ORCA D and Bronze Cross certifications. She has experience as a Canoe Instructor through Trent University and at Doe Lake Girls' Camp. She also was a volunteer with the Girls Guides of Canada for seven years and was awarded the Canada Cord. This will be Carly's first summer at Manitou.

From Winnipeg, Manitoba, Gina is a student at the University of Winnipeg studying Industrial Arts Education. Through her program, Gina has done placements at Darwin School and at Sisler High School. She also has taken courses in Theatre and runs her own Greeting Card company. Gina joins us for her first summer at Manitou.

From Toronto, Ontario, Ryan is a student at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec studying International Business and Marketing. In 2005, he was a member of the school's silver medal winning Commerce Games team. Prior to returning to school, Ryan worked for three years as a Manager at EDO and EDO-ko restaurants in Toronto. He has been an avid waterskiier for many years, including working a season at Camp Arrowhead as well as a season and a half at Manitou. A Manitou camper for four years, Ryan completed our CIT program in 1998. He returns for his fourth summer on staff and eighth at Manitou.

From Springfield, Missouri, McKenna is a student at Missouri State University working towards a degree in Recreation. During the year, McKenna works in an after school program for elementary students with the Springfield Park Board. She has also been the Assistant Head Lifeguard at Quail Creek Pool for the past three years and holds her American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification. This will be McKenna's first summer at Manitou.

From Tasmania, Australia, Aimee has been working in Banff, Alberta for the past year. Back at home, she was the Director of the MRC Childcare Centre for two years. She is a graduate of the University of Tasmania with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Aimee also has experience as a Team Leader at Stewart Childcare and has several years experience teaching in Kindergarten and elementary school classrooms. This will be her second season at Manitou.

From London, Ontario, Jen works a Music Teacher with the Peel District School Board. A graduate of Queens University in Kingston, Jen holds degrees in Music and Education. She also studied in the Educational Partnership programs with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra at the Lincoln Center and has completed the 'Music Mentorship' accompaniment program with the National Ballet of Canada. She has played piano in numerous Kiwanis Music Festivals and has accompanied numerous shows. She also has experience teaching piano and guitar lessons. She returns for her fifth season at Manitou.

Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, Gord now lives in Toronto, Ontario where he has been working and taking courses through Ryerson University. Gord is a graduate of Bemidji State University in Minnesota with a B Sc. He played Division II NCAA baseball while at school, and has had coaching experience including a position as Assistant Coach of the York University Men's Varsity Team. In 2002, Gord was named World Games captain. This will be his eighth summer at Manitou.

Nicky has several years experience working as a health care assistant at both Iler Lodge and Country Village Health Care Centre. He holds his B Ed from York University, his BA from Trent University in Peterborough and completed a year of Theatre at George Brown College in Toronto. Matt worked several years professionally in theatre starting in 1995, as a part owner of Pudge Productions. Since then he has written and directed several plays including Manitou hits "Manitou: The Musical" along with its many sequels and "MacBeth: More or Less." Matt returns for his ninth season at Manitou and third as Arts Coordinator.

This will be Alana's first summer at Manitou.

This will be Caitlin's first summer at Manitou.

Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Jeremy completed medical school there in 1985 and moved to Toronto, Ontario shortly after. He specialized in paediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto from 1990 to 1994, since then he has been on staff at the hospital as the Director of Inpatient Paediatric Medicine. He is also the author of the 2nd edition of the bestselling book "The 3 AM Handbook: The most commonly asked questions about your child's health." He returns for his fourth summer at Manitou.

During the year, Leigh worked as a 'Floor Fellow' supervisor in the McGill residence system. She has also been involved in theatre programs for over 12 years, writing, acting and directing; and was a national level Synchronized Swimmer, holding her NCCP level one coaching certification. This will be Leigh's first summer working at Manitou.

Brad has been playing competitive Basketball for many years, including winning the Juvenile AAA Quebec Provincial Championship in 2005 and a winning a bronze medal at the World Maccabiah Games in Israel that same year. He also worked as a score keeper for the Jewish Alumni Basketball League for two years. This will be Brad's second summer at Manitou.

Sari is a certified fitness consultant and group fitness instructor and has worked as an athletic trainer with her school's Women's Rugby Team. She has also trained and competed in Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop Acrobatics and Lyrical Dance and is a member of the UWO Dance company. She has experience as an instructor at All That Dance and Camp Move 'n Groove. Sari was a Manitou camper for six years and completed our CIT program in 2001. From Toronto, Ontario, Stanley is a student at McMaster University in Hamilton studying Science. While at school this year, Stanley served as his residence floor rep. He was also heavily involved in his high school's theatre program having taken vocal lessons and attending theatre camps when he was younger. Stanley also plays guitar and is a long time basketball player. This will be his first summer at Manitou.

From Sydney, Australia, Angelique holds a diploma in Welfare as well as a Childcare certificate. She has worked in a childcare centre for two years and done placements in respite homes and women's shelters. She has also studied Jazz, Ballet, Tap, and Hip Hop, run instructional programs for children and has had several years of Tennis instruction. This will be Angelique's first summer at Manitou.

Mike is also a graduate of the General Arts and Science program at Fanshawe college in London. Mike has played competitive Baseball and Football for many years, helping his Football team to the Halton Regional championship in 2002. Mike returns to Manitou for his second summer on staff.

Sarah has experience working with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Niagara Falls and as a JUMP Ambassador at Laurier. Last summer she travelled to The Gambia in West Africa to volunteer in a hospital and teach at local schools. She also has many years experience playing competitive Soccer, Basketball and Volleyball. This will be Sarah's first summer at Manitou.

Carla is a member of York's varsity Cheerleading team, is an NCCP level 1 coach in Cheerleading and Gymnastics and also teaches Aerobics and Yoga classes during the year. She has taught Dance and Gymnastics through Futures Gymnastics and has also worked as a dancer on TV and in music videos. This will be Carla's third summer at Manitou.

Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Julie now lives in Boca Raton, Florida, and is a student of the University of Pennsylvania studying Political Science and International Relations. During the year, Julie works as a beat reporter for her college newspaper and has appeared in the New York Times and Fox News. She was also a competitive tennis player for many years and a nationally ranked debator. Julie was a Manitou camper for three years, completing our CIT program in 2003. She returns for her third summer on staff and sixth at Manitou.

Previously, he spent three years living in Harrisonburg, Virginia working with Camp Horizons and The Outdoor Learning Centre as a Counsellor and Outdoor Education Facilitator. Brian is a graduate of the Broadwater School and holds his Red Cross Life Guard and Wilderness First Responder certifications. He returns for his second summer at Manitou.

She holds her Bronze Medallion and PCO card. Emily was a Manitou camper for three years completing our CIT program in 2003. She was named World Games Captain in 2006.
