The FreshKids
are our youngest campers between the ages of 7-9
(Grade 1*, 2 and 3) (* In recent years we have had many grade 1 children also attend camp usually because they have older brother or sisters and the child is mature enough to handle a first year camp experience.).
Manitou offers a uniquely nurturing environment organized with care to provide the support, supervision and structure that these younger campers need to flourish. We insure a minimum of two staff members in each camper cabin of 6-8 children. Counselors spend the entire day with Campers, assisting them with their specialities, and organizing cabin activities or evening programs to ensure a happy, well-rounded camp experience. |
 |
| Part of their day is spent within their cabin group participating in activities such as land sports, tennis, swimming or crafts. Of course, cabins may wish to try their first canoe trip or camp-out. Campers also create their own schedule choosing activities, often with friends from their own cabin, unit or with a brother or sister. Evening programs are tailor made for this age group and may include "paint your counselor", "food games" or a "treasure hunt", making them the highlight of a wonderful day. |
| Each night, counselors guide children through bedtime routines, with stories, snuggles and quiet conversations, to ensure happy, healthy, well adjusted children. Since many "Fresh Kids" are first time campers, we contact all parents within the first three days of camp to report on their child's experience. Of course, parents can call us at anytime! |

Our youngest campers, aged 7 to 9 years (completed grades 2 & 3) will have a more structured schedule, spending two periods a day with their cabin group. These cabin activities will include tennis, soccer, baseball, archery, arts and crafts, hockey, baseball and instructional swim every day. In the three remaining periods, FreshKids will create their own schedule and be able to choose six different activities for each week, with their counsellors providing hands on supervision. |
